The assembly was jointly held with the 3rd Congress of China Geodesy and Geophysics and organized by the CNC-IAG (Chinese National Committee for International Association of Geodesy) and CSSMG (Geodesy and Navigation Committee of the Chinese Society for Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation).

More than 300 attendees from universities, research institutions and industry gathered around for this event. Academicians of Chinese Academy of Science, Prof. Junyong Chen and Prof. Yuanxi Yang, academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. Jinsheng Ning and Prof. Ziqing Wei and Prof. René Forsberg from DTU-Space, Technical University of Denmark attended the assembly. Prof. René Forsberg and Academicians Yuanxi Yang, Jinsheng Ning and Ziqing Wei were invited to deliver keynote speeches.

The general assembly includes five parallel sessions: (1) Precise positioning and reference frame application; (2) Navigation, positioning and location based service; (3) Gravity field and vertical datum; (4) Geodetic monitoring and geodynamics; (5) Marine geodetic datum and under water navigation and positioning. 4 keynote speeches and 140 contributions out of more than 200 submissions were presented.
